Acer’s neoTouch has been renamed to F1 for UK release. It has been a while since the phone has gotten its re-christening and is enjoying the position as the main Windows Mobile phone. This little Snapdragon wonder provides users with an excellent alternative to the HTC HD2 if they feel that the HD2’s Sense covers up Windows Mobile too much. Indeed, if users want a true Windows Mobile experience, then the neoTouch F1 is the phone to have. The phone features WinMo 6.5 Professional in all its glory, complete with a complementing 3.8 resistive touch screen.
Compared to the X2
The XPERIA X2 from Sony Ericsson also uses Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional and a resistive touch screen, but unlike the X2, the neoTouch F1 uses Windows Mobile’s interface all throughout. The X2 uses a custom interface on top of Windows. The screen of the neoTouch is also significantly larger allowing for better visuals. The biggest difference, of course, is the Snapdragon processor of the neoTouch F1. Both devices run the same version of Windows and have the same software features such as the updated Windows Mobile Marketplace, Office for Mobile, Windows Media Player and Internet Explorer Mobile.
Availability and More
Windows fans would be happy to know that the Acer neoTouch on contract is free (or half priced) for O2 and Orange Mobile UK. The difference of plan details on the two carriers is small and it all boils down to a matter of personal preference for buyers on which is better. The big choice is actually between this device and the HTC HD2 which also uses a Snapdragon processor and actually features a much larger 4 inch HD capacitive touch screen. The HTC HD2 also uses the famous HTC Sense (and upgrade of the HTC Touch Flo interface).
