Apple iPhone 3GSTesco has revealed that it will start selling Apple’s iPhone under a joint venture with the UK’s original iPhone provider O2 in a press briefing. They have also announced the introduction of the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS in the shortest possible time in Tesco phone shops and online through Direct in the UK. The supermarket giant is one of the world’s best known brands.

Tesco Mobile is a 50: 50 joint venture between Tesco and O2. The company sells Tesco Mobile branded products in Tesco stores, and online through Tesco Direct, across the UK through O2’s technology and network. The supermarket has also informed that Tesco phone shops outlet will number over 100 by the end of 2009.

Tesco Mobile is offering a wide range of mobiles under the Pay As You Go (PAYG) and the pay monthly but the iPhone price is yet to be known. According to last year’s ratings, Tesco Mobile was ranked the number one pre-pay mobile telephone provider for customer satisfaction from J.D Power and Associates 2008 UK Mobile Telephone customer satisfaction study.

In July 2009, Tesco announced an unlimited mobile deal offering unlimited minutes, texts and browsing for just £30 monthly. At the time the Chief Executive Officer of Tesco Mobile and Tesco Telecoms said, “We believe that this will change the way people use their mobile phones. The new tariff aims to give people a simple, guaranteed way to have unlimited calls, text and browsing”.

This deal will clearly raise the profile of the iPhone further. Tesco has a total of 2,282 stores in the UK, with employees in the capacity of 286,394 and 4,308 stores worldwide with a total of 468,508 staff. They have also got stores in different locations such as Turkey, USA, UK, Thailand, South Korea, Republic of Ireland, Slovakia, Poland, Japan, Malaysia, India, Czech Republic, Hungary and China.
