iphone_vodafoneWith January not too far away, it is not surprising that Vodafone wants to whet the market’s appetite with their offers for the Apple iPhone. Despite the current industry focus on the upcoming Google Phone, Vodafone CEO, Guy Lawrence says that the carrier has been busy preparing for the arrival of the iPhone since last year.

As to exactly what those preparations are is anyone’s guess. According to the CEO, network speed and reliability are two key points they have focused on. If this is true, then hopefully, Vodafone’s network is prepared to the massive amount of traffic that is attributed to iPhone users.

On Vodafone, the 32GB iPhone 3Gs is free on an 80 Pound tariff for 18 months. This deal also comes with 3000 minutes. All of Vodafone’s deals give 1 GB of data, unlimited messages and unlimited WiFi. The cheapest way to get an iPhone is to aim for the 8GB unit that comes free with the 45 Pound tariff.

Originally, only one carrier had the iPhone for two whole years. It was not just until last October that a second company started offering the iPhone as well. Not too long after, Tesco joined the ranks of O2 and Orange Mobile in offering the highly-sought after device. Vodafone also announced that they too would be offering the iPhone come January and everyone started praying for one of the most anticipated price wars to begin.

Though not hoped for, things unfolded as expected, while there was a slight improvement in services, the prices of the iPhone did not drop; and judging from the prices released by Vodafone, it is unlikely that any carrier will be offering price cuts this January as well. At least the market still gets a wide range of providers to choose from, which is still a nice change from the past few months.
