LG GD910When the word watchphone is mentioned people tend to think of high tech and expensive gadgets, perhaps novelty products or things which just don’t exist. The new phone from LG comes with a unique twist, as it is actually built into a normal watch that you wear around your wrist. Retailing at £500, the LG watchphone is handmade, and so is only available in different batches which arrive at various times throughout the year. Go into your local phone store and ask them about it, and they should be able to tell you when more are due in.

The High Tech Gem is all controlled by either voice recognition software, or by using the touch screen. The voice recognition software is perhaps the most impressive, allowing you to simply say a phrase or command, which the phone will then pick up and follow.

For instance, if you say view messages, your phone will be able to go instantly open all your recent messages, allowing you to have easy access, particularly useful if you are tied up and do not have the time. It also means that you can use the phone whilst driving, because you can simply say call so and so, and the phone will do it. This saves you from having to use a Bluetooth device which can be uncomfortable and potentially dangerous if you fail to hear traffic.

It is worth nothing however that there are other watch phones out there on the market which can be picked up for £250 or less, but the quality of them and the fact they are not handmade may set you up with a dilemma of whether you want to purchase one or not. You can get the LG GD910 on contract and pay as you go.

LG GW990LG recently announced that the LG GW990 handset will hit the market during the latter part of 2010. Paul Otellini, during his Intel CES (Consumer Electronics show) keynote speech, actually demoed the phone. This was the first demonstration of the GW990 publicly and it was shown to have video capabilities surpassing even the lofty BL40 Chocolate.  It will run on the Linux based Moblin 2.1 operating system and was based specifically on the Intel Moorsetown platform. It is a mobile internet device and will be one of the first such phones to actually be available for sale.

One of the handset’s most impressive features is its full touchscreen display. It is nearly 5 inches (4.8 in) with a 1024 x 480 resolution.  It has an aspect ratio of 2.13:1.  LG is touting the phone as having the capabilities of a PC with a smartphone’s mobility. They are very excited about product as is the mobile phone public.

The phone comes standard with 16GB of Flash internal memory which is quite good. Individuals are able to add additional memory simply by purchasing a MicroSD card. The handset also has 512 MB of RAM and 720 p output. The phone is durable and sturdy, is a 3G and has an 1850 mAh battery.

In the summary, for those interested the LG GW990 will be available or sale during the latter part of 2010. There has been no announcement concerning price.  As the release date becomes closer that information should be provided by LG or leaked (which will likely be the case) prior to the official release.  This Linux based Moblin 2.1 mobile Internet device has the industry quite excited.  Whether or not that translates into consumer sales will soon be determined. If it does do well, there will likely be many manufactures attempting to create their own handsets based on the same technology. That’s usually the way that it goes. One manufacture experiences success and the others quickly follow suit.

LG GM750The LG GM750 is a remake of the original LG GM730, by upgrading the hardware slightly and by using a new OS, LG offers the public what is pretty much the same device. This is actually good. The GM730 is a decent mobile phone with practical features. The updated GM750 offers what could be considered as the same, though the GM750 could have used more updates, particularly a physical keyboard.

The LG GM750 uses the new Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional operating system; it’s a step over the old 6.1 on the GM730, though the GM730’s 6.1 OS can be upgraded. New in version 6.5 of WinMo is the application store. Dubbed as the Marketplace, this new app store finally providers Windows Mobile users the ability to purchase and download applications on their mobile phones. Applications are important because users can choose specifically which software features they would like to have on their device.

The Spec Sheet:

The GM750 specifications are not incredibly special, as most are pretty standard fare for today’s average 3G smart phone. The camera, at 5 mega pixels still shines (with the average smart phone still using 3 to 3.2 megapixel cameras). It also helps that the device has flash and autofocus, which makes using the camera all the more easier.

The LG GM750 has a very simple design, with the touch screen occupying most of the front of the device, the sides are curved slightly which helps when gripping the phone.

The LG GM750 has excellent media playback capabilities thanks to the Windows Mobile media player and the FM radio. Supported uncommon file formats include H.263 and H.264 video as well as AAC+ and WMA audio formats.

Deals and Contracts

GM750 contracts are currently available with Vodafone until December. This exclusivity means that the device can only be purchased through retail SIM-free. Vodafone is offering the LG GM750 for free on several plans.

LG Chocolate BL20The Chocolate series by LG suffered a blow with the mediocre design of the Chocolate Touch, but that will not stop LG. They have returned to the signature LG Chocolate look and are delivering us a new slider phone that with the looks and style that brings back that incredible design that the Chocolate series is known for. With physical features that can best be described as small, slim and sexy; the LG BL20 Chocolate will not only make you completely forget about the Touch, but it sets the bar for what can now be described as mobile high fashion.

Back to Life

Many BL20 reviews are clamoring the high visual value of this new 3G Chocolate, and who can blame them for seeing the obvious beauty in the device. Still, this does not change the fact that the BL20 on its own is a pretty good mobile phone in terms of specifications. The hidden navigation buttons that LG advertises is actually the touch sensitive control surface just below the screen. This new navigation system is far smoother and easier to use than a navigation pad or a track ball.

The device also features a 2.4 inch 240 x 320 pixel resolution screen and a nifty 5 mega pixel camera. Users of this new Chocolate need not worry about space as the device supports up to 16GB microSD cards. The whole phone is powered by a battery that can deliver up to 5 hours of talk and 450 hours of standby time.

Where to Get

There are BL20 new Chocolate contracts on O2 as the carrier formally made the announcement that they will be offering the device to their clients. The price tag may seem hefty at first, but when you realize that this is a full-fledged 3G device (complete with 3G HSDPA), then the price looks a lot more practical.

LG GW620If you ignore the 256k color display, the low 320 x 480 pixels resolution and the touch resistive nature of its 3 inch TFT screen, LG GW620 is a very cool smartphone. The handset has a beautiful design and a finish that is pleasant to the eye. And this includes the slider keyboard in blue, which looks very nice against the black color of the front body. The length of the handset is a very convenient 4.1 inches and it is only less than half an inch thick, while it weighs just 127 grams.

Among the reasons to consider LG GW620, it is enough to get a lot of people interested that the phone uses the Android operating system. LG GW620 offers all the advantages of this popular interface developed by Google, and features Push Email, web browsing in WAP 2.0, HTML and X-HTML, and other Google services and applications like the Google Search, which certainly has become an internet essential. Apart from that the interface provides integration with instant messaging and social networking websites. LG GW620 can offer you all the wireless network modes that you can think of to connect your smartphone to the internet including Wi-Fi, 3G, GPRS and GSM.

LG GW620 features one of the most impressive digital cameras of what almost all of the newly announced smartphones are offering. The camera can also record video on a 720 x 480 pixel resolution at a rate of 30 frames per second. LG GW620 also features a built-in assisted GPS device.
