Nokia did not scrimp on features with the Nokia C7 smartphone. It has the superior AMOLED display that uses less energy yet provides a brighter picture than the older LCD format. Nokia gave it 360 by 640 pixels of power and their special Clearblack treatment to make using the C7 an enjoyable experience. It has both an accelerometer and a proximity sensor for convenience. The size is three and a half inches, the same as the iPhone. There is no manual keyboard for the C7.

On uppercrust smartphones from Nokia, a user can usually find some nice wireless features. This C7 has all the Wi-Fi modes as well as EDGE, GPRS, bluetooth and 3G. It also has a stereo FM radio and transmitter. What would use that transmitter for ? It comes in handy when carrying the C7 in a car. Broadcasting music to the radio prevents having to use a cable connection. To top it off, the bluetooth is up to version 3.0 which is ten times faster than older versions.

The Nokia C7 is sporting the Symbian^3 mobile operating system. It is the most popular mobile operating system in the world. It is a spinoff from S60 and comes with the powerful Ovi Maps turn by turn system for free. The C7 is the second smartphone from Nokia to use the Symbian^3 system. The N8 flagship handset was the first.

The camera on the Nokia C7 is one notch under the reigning champion, the N8. It is eight megapixels in power and is packed with features. It is high enough in quality to produce high definition video in 720p format. Nokia was generous and also gave the C7 a front-facing secondary camera for video calling. You can now pick up a Nokia C7 on contract or for around €335 euros up-front.

Social Networking is Still Key

If there is one thing that really works for the Nokia Touch and Type handset, it is the fact that it combines connectivity with social networking. As much as mobile phones have originally been created for calling and later, for text messaging, it is hard to deny that social networking is the new medium of communication for many people.

First off, the device supports 3G and WiFi –this along brings enough connectivity for users wherever they may be. With the fast and stable connection speeds for both 3G and WiFi networks it is pretty easy to see how this mobile handset will keep users online and up to date.

Of course, the second important factor is the integrated social networking features. The handset brings Facebook, Twitter and instant messaging through Yahoo and Windows Live for users to be able to access instantly from the phone menu.

Better Typing Methods

Typing on the Nokia Touch and Type is a breeze. Initially, one would be a little disoriented at having the 4 column layout as opposed to the usual 4 row set found in regular T9 keypads. But that is not really an issue. Give any user a few moments of using the device and they will be typing out messages pretty fast. Being able to use the resistive touch screen to move around the message also makes editing and scrolling a whole lot faster as well. Within the past years they have been consistent in providing exceptional mobiles that are able to cater to several types of users. The Nokia C6 is another mobile from this Finnish manufacturer and it is sure to take to the Smartphone market by storm.

Closer Look

The Nokia C6 is another slider mobile from Nokia. At first glance you would notice right away that the design looks similar to that of the N97. However, it is fair to say that it is more compact due its smaller dimensions of 113 x 53 x 16.8 mm. The Nokia C6 slider only weighs 150g which makes it ideal to carry around.

One of the strong features the C6 offers is the TFT resistive touch screen display. It measures 3.2 inches with a resolution of 360 x 640 pixels. It recognizes 16 million colours making any picture look vibrant and lush.

The auto-rotate feature is made possible because of the accelerometer sensor. Therefore you have the option to decide to view the display either in landscape or portrait mode.

The beautiful QWERTY keyboard is positioned under the screen. The space of the keypad is evenly distributed therefore typing should be a lot easier.

Other Functionality

The design of the Nokia C6 is undeniably beautiful but its functionality is equally gorgeous as well. It can be used both in 2G and 3G network. Furthermore it is compatible with Class 32 GPRS and EDGE. This simply means that that the C6’s internet speed is more likely faster than other mobiles out there. WIFI can also be utilized at Hotspot locations for web browsing.

The internal memory is at 240MB and when a MicroSD card is used it can be expanded up to 32GB. That amount of memory will surely allow you to store a lot of songs, games and downloads.

Sure, looking at the video might seem like Apple was right all along. But many are forgetting the fact that the Nokia N97 Mini has been out since last 2009. That has given Nokia owners more than enough time to air whatever possible complaints they may have. So far, the only issues that Nokia has had to contend with are some firmware freezing issues that were easily resolved (most likely left over from the more unstable firmware on the original non-mini Nokia N97).

Simply put, the N-series handset does not suffer from the antennagate issue. Never has Nokia ever needed to pull an emergency press conference to explain their handsets, nor does the N97 Mini need to be used with a casing to work properly.

The biggest clincher would have to be the fact that even if the signal drops to a lower bar, it is not enough to drop calls. Maybe, bringing the N97 Mini to a very low reception area might suffice for a dropped call. But in almost a year of use, N97 Mini owners has never had a problem with dropped calls (else they would be openly complaining about it).

Apple presents a very intriguing argument for anyone who is not too familiar with the facts and the nature of the problem. And in that regard, they would succeed. But misdirection can only go so far –particularly when they are dealing with devices that are already tried and tested.

Anyway, going back to the MeeGo, this new mobile platform is actually the combination of Intel’s Moblin and the Nokia Maemo, both are mobile platforms designed with smart phone users in mind (though the OS can be used in other devices too). With the slight success of the Maemo on the Nokia N900, it is possible that the same community that supported Maemo would also be supporting the upcoming MeeGo OS.

In the meanwhile, Nokia has already announced that the N-series would now be making use of the MeeGo OS. The upcoming Nokia N8 smart phone will be the last N-series handset to make use of the Symbian operating system. Despite this announcement, recently leaked images and videos of a device that has been tagged as the Nokia N9 showcase the Symbian^3 mobile platform –which is not what most people expected to see.

Close ups of the device clearly show that the handset is labeled as the “C0-00”, but the software indicates that it is an “N00 Model”. With Nokia not yet making an official announcement regarding the images and videos, it has yet to be confirmed if the device is indeed the N9.

Developers are now being enticed by Nokia and Intel to help develop and support the new MeeGo OS. The platform, despite being co-developed by Intel will be compatible with both Intel and ARM made processors. This will make the MeeGo easier to adapt to other phone manufacturers.

For music fans who are still saving up for a Nokia smart phone, the wait just got a little bit shorter. The X6 16GB version just got announced and it will be much cheaper than the original X6 32GB version. The only difference between the two devices is that the “Comes with Music” unlimited downloads offer only applies to the 32GB version –that means if you really need to get your music fix, then you might as well save up for the bigger phone.

On the other hand, if you already have your own set of tunes and simply need a great music device, then the 16GB version should do just fine. As a consolation, Nokia is throwing in 25 free music track downloads from the online Nokia Music store.

Aside from music, the X6 is a great multimedia phone. It comes with a 5 mega pixel camera (with Carl Zeiss lens), a 3.2” in touch screen, and a good set of games (Spore Mobile, Asphalt4 and DJ Mix Tour) and of course, the music player. On a full charge of the battery, the device will give you 35 straight hours of listening pleasure. If you need something a little more live than installed files, the phone also has an antenna for tuning into FM broadcasts.

For those of you who are hoping to snag this sweet little music phone, the device is expected to be out on Feb 24 from various network operators.

The 6700 Slide comes with a built in 5 megapixel camera, ideal for taking photos and videos of good times, and preserving memories which may otherwise be forgotten. The camera is designed to capture tremendous quality, and is expected to be better than some low end digital cameras on the market! The phone may lack applications, but the huge 29 hour battery life whilst playing music makes up for this fact. That’s over a day of solid music, more than enough than to keep you entertained. You can upload your photos directly to Facebook using the special program, saving you having to transfer them to a computer or laptop and then do it, or if you prefer you can use the USB port to transfer all your files across to a computer to edit.

The other phone is the Nokia 7230. It is also a 3G slider. It features a 3.2 megapixel camera, 2.4 inch display screen, audio messaging, FM radio and Bluetooth. It will use a S40 operations system and comes in two colors, hot pink and graphite. Both of these phones will be available during the first quarter of 2010.

The Nokia 6700 and 7230 are two of the company’s newest mobile phones. They both contain many features which now come standard in most smartphones. The 6700 is obviously the “pretty sister” of the two. It offers users more memory, Bluetooth, a 5 megapixel camera, FM radio and a music player.

The 7230, isn’t bad. It’s just not the 6700. There are fewer features. The price of both phones reflects the differences. It is important to remember that the phone which has the most features isn’t necessarily the right phone for a particular person. People have different needs. Some persons will not require a 5 megapixel camera or 45 MB of space. For these individuals, it would make more sense to buy the cheaper phone and pocket the difference.  It makes little sense to spend more money the necessary.

Nokia 6700 Slide and Nokia 7230 announced, finally. However, the phones won’t be available for purchase until the first quarter of 2010. Both will be sold for under €175.

Looking at the specs’ sheet of the phone, the most noticeable fact about it is that none of the features have seen a downgrade. All the features have seen an improvement in some way or the other. The highlight of all the features is the capacitive touchscreen. This is sure to be a hit among all Nokia fans as it will make the screen much more responsive, more like the iPhone!

The phone’s internal memory has seen a massive boost with a whooping 32 GB. Admittedly, there isn’t a memory card slot but, with that much of internal memory, we can’t possibly find a reason to actually moan about the lack of a memory card slot.

The hardware of the X6 is nearly the same as that found in the 5800. The processor as well as the memory of the X6 is the same as the 5800. Nokia Maps 3 as well as the Comes With Music service are present in the phone as well.

However, though we mentioned the capacitive screen as a highlights, it could become a bugbear because of the fact that the OS might not be properly made to work with this capacitive screen. The fact that the 5800 had a stylus really helped with the use of the phone, but, with the absence of a stylus in the X6, any problems with the screen could come to haunt Nokia back.

The Nokia X6 Reviews are good, so make sure you grab the phone, which should be available near Christmas for about 400 pounds. You will also be able to pick up the Nokia X6 on contract if the full price is a bit much for you to splash out in one go.
