Samsung is serious about their goals. The Korean phone maker previously stated that they are intent on making the smart phone a product for everyone. And while having an impressive 3.3 inch super AMOLED touch screen, a 5 mega pixel camera and a 1GHz CPU will certainly attract the attention of many gear heads viewing phone specs online, the original Samsung S8500 Wave smart phone misses out on the key market demographic of the casual smart phone user.

Of course, bringing out a proprietary operating system on a low end smart phone simply feels wrong too. Which is why it makes perfect sense that shortly right after the Korean company has launched the Wave, they are now announcing the Samsung Wave 2 (looks like the Wave was made simply to introduce the Bada OS to the tech community).

The new smart phones are much closer to Samsung’s ideals. The Wave 2 and Wave 2 Pro are mid range handsets with basic features, the Bada OS and a well designed phone body (in some ways, we prefer how the Wave 2 looks over the original Wave).

The Samsung S5250 Wave 2 smart phone comes with the Bada operating system, a 3.2 inch TFT touch screen (with a modest resolution of 240 x 400 pixels), a 3 mega pixel camera, an accelerometer, the TouchWiz user interface, 80 MB of internal storage and support for a good range of media files (it even has an FM radio). All in all, it is certain to be a well recommended handset when it finally comes out.

Samsung also announced the Wave 2 Pro. In terms of specs, the two devices are almost entirely alike with the only difference being the slide out QWERTY keyboard on the Pro edition of the handset. It is a very wise move from Samsung as having a keyboard is a very important factor for some users –and being able to choose between having a keyboard or not will certainly be appreciated by everyone.

There is plenty to try out with the new S8500 Samsung Wave smart phone. First off, the handset makes use of the new Bada operating system (Bada means ocean in Korean). Also, the device is the first handset to ever apply the super AMOLED touch screen technology developed by the Korean manufacturer. Now, another reason has been added to the list: the device is free on some of the new offers by Vodafone and Virgin Media.

According to a recent announcement from Vodafone UK and Virgin Media, the two local network operators are offering the handset for free on their 24 month, 25 Pound tariff contract. Vodafone’s plan offers users about 300 minutes of talk time, 500 MB of data allowance and an infinite supply of text messages. Virgin offers pretty much the same deal on data and texts, but the calls are doubled at 600 minutes.

While Virgin Media’s offer may give more in terms of quality, their network coverage is not as vast as Vodafone’s –so buyers might want to determine which locations in the UK they will be travelling to when deciding which of the Samsung Wave deals suits them best.

Regardless of the plan or network that a buyer chooses, the Wave smart phone is a very practical handset. First off, the device has got plenty of power. With the ARM Cortex A8 processor providing 1GHz of CPU speed, the device is a solid match for other high end handsets.

And it will need that power for all the new Apps that Samsung has put into their app store for the Bada OS. Samsung has been getting plenty of developers to support their new open source platform and from the looks of it, they succeeded, the app store for the Bada has hundreds of tools and games to choose from.

Lastly, the handset’s 3.3 inch super AMOLED capacitive touch screen display will provide users with excellent visual quality.

The new super AMOLED screen technology is certainly winning the approval of many tech critics as it delivers some of the best quality images and videos possible on mobile phones. The demonstration of the Samsung Wave at the Mobile World Congress pretty much sealed the verdict as it showed that not only does the display show great depth and clarity, but it is able to display true black tones on a display screen –or convincingly close to true black.

The Samsung Wave is a smart phone that runs on the new Bada mobile platform from Samsung, it was not expected that they would announce a new device using the new technology so soon. But just a couple of weeks ago Samsung has confirmed that it will be using the super AMOLED touch screen on the Windows Phone 7 device that they are currently working on. It has been confirmed that the new phone will come with a 5 mega pixel camera and will be following the type-1 chassis in the Microsoft system requirement for the WP7 mobile platform.

Now, a third device using the high-tech screen technology will be released and this time it is an Android smart phone. The I9000 Galaxy S follows Samsung’s line of Android devices and it is expected to be launched sometime later this year. While the actual release date is sketchy, it has been reported that the phone will indeed be heading to the UK.

The Galaxy S comes with a nice 4 inch capacitive touch screen display –larger than the 3.3 inch screen on the Wave. It will also have a 1GHz processor and a 5 mega pixel camera as well. Expect this phone to have the usual array of smart phone basics such as Bluetooth support, AGPS, WiFi and more.

Samsung S7550 Blue EarthSamsung have always tried to keep a good image by promoting their mobile phones to be Eco friendly and helpful to the environment. Up until this date however we haven’t been able to see physical proof. That is until Samsung announced the release of their new phone, appropriately titled the Samsung Blue Earth. This new phone combines many different elements to make it Eco friendly, and is probably the most environmentally friendly phone ever made.

The Blue Earth looks normal from the front until you take a look at its back. The back of the phone is one big solar panel, allowing you to charge your mobile phone just by laying it upwards outside. This will not only save you money on your electricity bill, but also mean if you are ever caught out with your mobile phone running out of battery whilst on the go, you can simply lie it down and it will recharge.

The new Samsung eco-phone is largely made from recycled household plastic, saving factories creating new plastic which gives off poisonous fumes into the atmosphere. The phone itself is not half bad either. It features 3.2 megapixel camera, ideal for taking photos when you are out and about. You can then upload the photos directly onto websites such as Facebook and MySpace from the phone, saving you having to transfer them to a computer to upload. Even the box that the phone arrives in is reusable, with it being able to be turned into a photo frame or pen holder rather than just throwing it out. Expected in Sweden this month, the Blue Earth is due to make its way to the rest of Europe and Asia shortly afterward.

Samsung S7550 Blue EarthIndividuals in the market for a nice, mobile phone that is also eco friendly should have a look at the Samsung Blue Earth. This is an eco-friendly handset that utilizes recycled materials and solar energy. The phone’s display screen is actually made from recycled plastic. Samsung used PCM, (recycled plastic from water bottles) to create the screen. The phone also has a solar panel on the back which is able to generate enough power for users can make phone calls. Samsung is also making noise for what the phone does not include. They left out Phthalate, Beryllium and Brominated Flame Retardants, materials believed to be harmful to the earth.  While these features are definitively the phone’s primary selling points, Samsung manages to back it up with really good features. It has respectable specs that many mobile owners would be pleased with.

The Blue Earth has a roomy 3.0 capacitive touchscreen phone that is 240 x 320 pixels. It comes with a 3.15 megapixel camera (2048 x 1536 pixels) and a video recorder. Users will be able to message their friends and receive and shoot off emails. The phone comes with a FM radio which gives individuals the opportunity to listen to their favorite, local DJs and radio stations. It also has a music player so that users can download and listen to MP3s.  The Blue Earth, while serious in its goal of “saving” the earth, is still a fun-friendly phone. It is possible to download games. Users will also find a built-in GPS system and support.

This mobile phone would be ideal for the eco-conscious man or woman who does not want to sacrifice quality and specs. The Samsung Blue Earth is already available. It was released in the 4th quarter of 2009. Subsequently, individuals who want to purchase the phone can.  The internet is a great place to get it because it is possible to find some really great deals.

Samsung C3510 GenoaThe Samsung C3510 Genoa is a good, introductory phone. Originally only available in India, it will soon be available to those in Europe. Rumored to being priced at only 100 euro, it really is an affordable option.  Those interested in purchasing the phone will find that is a good, basic handset, with many of the same features available in mobile phones that sell for much more. However, the Genoa obviously won’t have the same type of specs because it is being sold as a much lower price point. For example, instead of a 5 megapixel phone, it offers users a 1.3 megapixel phone. It stills takes pictures, just not as high quality ones as a more expensive phone would.

Still, the Genoa has a lot to offer. Besides the ability to take photos, users will also benefit from the phone’s music player, FM radio and Bluetooth. The handset comes with a 2.8 inch QVGA resolution, resistive touch screen display which isn’t bad at all. It runs on the GSM/EDGE quadband.

One of the best things about the phone is its social integration. Now, this obviously won’t be a perk for everyone. Younger customers and those heavy into social networking will probably appreciate this feature the most. Users will be able to check and update their statuses at Myspace, Facebook and Twitter. They can also receive live alerts.

The Samsung C3510 is a really nice phone. It offers the basics, including digital camera, FM radio and Bluetooth. It isn’t the most expensive mobile phone around but neither does it offer the best specs. It is a good, decent phone that will allow individuals to make and receive phone calls, plus a little bit more. The C3510 is a good option for individuals who aren’t really concerned about having the most advance handset around but instead just want a good, decent model that allows them to communicate with their family and friends and perhaps take a picture or two.

Samsung S7070 and S5150Samsung recently announced that it would be rolling out a Diva mobile phone design line sometime during the first quarter of 2010. This comes as a surprise to many, even to those that follow the company and its products closely. Not much was mentioned at all about it until a week ago when the company made its announcement at a Corby event.

The two Diva mobile phones are the Samsung S7070 and the S5150. The S5150’s codename was Olivia during the production period. These phones are quite different from each other. The S7070 is a touchscreen and the S5150 is a clamshell. This isn’t the only difference. Neither have a heck of a lot in common besides their external, 3D, quilted pattern and the fact that they target female mobile phone users.

The Samsung S7070 has a three inch touchscreen display, TouchWizUI and a 5 megapixel camera with an auto focus feature. Users can add memory with a MicroSD card and listen to music on the phone’s FM radio. The Samsung 7070 also gives users access to some social networking sites such as Myspace. This is a nice feature that more and more mobile phones are making available. Manufacturers are beginning to understand the importance and power of social networking sites in people’s lives and have begun to incorporate them into their products.

The other phone in the Diva line is the Samsung S5150. It is a clamshell, flip phone. It doesn’t have as many features as the S7070 and is expected to be priced lower.  This phone has a QVGA display screen which is 2.2 inches. There is a second display screen that can be found beneath the mirror panel. Users will be able to read basic information from this second display screen, specifically the time, date and how much battery power remains at any given moment. The phone also comes with a 3 megapixel camera. All-in-all, it seems like a decent phone. The real draw, however, will likely be the feminine and fancy design of the phone. Samsung is counting on the raised, quilted pattern design to draw female mobile phone buyers in.

Samsung M2510Samsung have often had a reputation for producing great quality music phones. They often operate the slide phone variety, which are commonly good for people on a budget. Samsung have just announced the release of their new phone, the M2510. It is expected to kick off a storm around the country, as it is going be be extremely cheap to purchase yet still containing some great music features. The camera comes with a 1.3megapixel camera, not the best but it will still help you to remember some of your most treasured moments. You can then edit the pictures in a basic photo editing program that comes with the phone. Once finished, you can transfer the pictures from your phone to a computer via the high speed USB port, or if you are lucky enough to have it, you can transfer your photos across via blue tooth to other mobile phones, or to other computers and laptops.

As a music phone, there are many features that direct directly to music. Firstly is the main music player. This can play songs that are loaded on through your computer. Depending on the size of your memory card, you can hold up to 2000 songs on the phone. You can sort them from artist, date released, play count or you can set your own play list.

There is also a very neat feature which is called music recognition. Basically if you hear a song on the radio or TV, and don’t know the name of it, you can hold you phone up to the device and within a few second the song name and the artist will pop up. Its amazing technology and is extremely useful.

The M2510 will be out soon, so if you want one you will have to wait.

Samsung StarWhile the current recession has hard hit many large enterprises, Samsung has been making giant strides against the tide, thanks to their innovative touchscreen phones. According to a recent report, their sales have already reached the 50 million mark. Of course the overall sales position of Samsung indicates an upward trend but it is largely the contribution of the touch phones that are gaining popularity day by day.

Looking at the break up one would find that 10 million of the 50 are Samsung S5230 Star model. The product only came out in May and is already making waves in the mobile market. Astute business sense helped those at the helm of affairs in Samsung realize that there is a great scope with such touch phones and their hunch came out to be true. Star in fact, continues to be the fastest selling touch phone in the market today.

Close on the hills of Star is the Samsung F480 Tocco that has already sold around 9 million units. Unique feature of this model is that it has been released and re-released quite a few times. There was the Rockstar and La Fleur editions and today there is the Hugo Boss Edition as well. F480 has been further updated to F480i and it includes much of the latest Samsung TouchWiz interfaces.

Waiting in the wings for the coveted top position in the race is the Samsung S3650 Genio that was released only a short time ago and has already sold more than 3 million units. In all, the sale of Samsung touchscreen phones has already reached the 50 million mark and out of them 40 million were sold during the current year alone.

These are not all. Overall percentage of touchscreen phones in all Samsung phones has now reached a staggering 20% as against only 5% sometime ago.
