Samsung have often had a reputation for producing great quality music phones. They often operate the slide phone variety, which are commonly good for people on a budget. Samsung have just announced the release of their new phone, the M2510. It is expected to kick off a storm around the country, as it is going be be extremely cheap to purchase yet still containing some great music features. The camera comes with a 1.3megapixel camera, not the best but it will still help you to remember some of your most treasured moments. You can then edit the pictures in a basic photo editing program that comes with the phone. Once finished, you can transfer the pictures from your phone to a computer via the high speed USB port, or if you are lucky enough to have it, you can transfer your photos across via blue tooth to other mobile phones, or to other computers and laptops.
As a music phone, there are many features that direct directly to music. Firstly is the main music player. This can play songs that are loaded on through your computer. Depending on the size of your memory card, you can hold up to 2000 songs on the phone. You can sort them from artist, date released, play count or you can set your own play list.
There is also a very neat feature which is called music recognition. Basically if you hear a song on the radio or TV, and don’t know the name of it, you can hold you phone up to the device and within a few second the song name and the artist will pop up. Its amazing technology and is extremely useful.
The M2510 will be out soon, so if you want one you will have to wait.
While the current recession has hard hit many large enterprises, Samsung has been making giant strides against the tide, thanks to their innovative touchscreen phones. According to a recent report, their sales have already reached the 50 million mark. Of course the overall sales position of Samsung indicates an upward trend but it is largely the contribution of the touch phones that are gaining popularity day by day.
Looking at the break up one would find that 10 million of the 50 are Samsung S5230 Star model. The product only came out in May and is already making waves in the mobile market. Astute business sense helped those at the helm of affairs in Samsung realize that there is a great scope with such touch phones and their hunch came out to be true. Star in fact, continues to be the fastest selling touch phone in the market today.
Close on the hills of Star is the Samsung F480 Tocco that has already sold around 9 million units. Unique feature of this model is that it has been released and re-released quite a few times. There was the Rockstar and La Fleur editions and today there is the Hugo Boss Edition as well. F480 has been further updated to F480i and it includes much of the latest Samsung TouchWiz interfaces.
Waiting in the wings for the coveted top position in the race is the Samsung S3650 Genio that was released only a short time ago and has already sold more than 3 million units. In all, the sale of Samsung touchscreen phones has already reached the 50 million mark and out of them 40 million were sold during the current year alone.
These are not all. Overall percentage of touchscreen phones in all Samsung phones has now reached a staggering 20% as against only 5% sometime ago.
The Mobile market in Europe is at its peak of selling smartphones like hot pancakes but the addition to this busy community is a simple mobile phone from industry leader Samsung. The release of this new touch phone in the market may not be anticipated by many but this phone has good quality that they shouldn’t miss. The Samsung S5560 is even available in affordably priced contracts.
Simply Styled
An average person has average needs so this mid range phone can suit them perfectly. This easy to use and stylish 3 inch QWVGA resistive touch screen phone makes other people think it is a classy high-end mobile phone though it’s not. Adding style to the phone is its sleek black finish that gives a sophisticated overall look.
Though some may say it looks very similar to previous Samsung models S5230 and S5600, this full touch has distinctions that set it apart. Samsung Marvel is a true black beauty in its dimensions of 107.5 x 52 x 13.2 mm. It is handier than other mobile phones for it only weighs 95.3 grams.
Simple Functions
The Samsung S5560 is really affordable for a phone with good features. Its Quad band GSM/EDGE connectivity options as well as Wi-Fi 802.11g, Bluetooth 2.1 and WAP 2.0 makes it possible for its users to stay connected with loved ones via calls, messages or through the internet. The phone sports IMAP/POP/SMTP connection so checking emails while on the move is possible too.
What makes the phone more suitable for daily use is its entertainment and time management functions. It is already a standard for phones nowadays to have the much used calendar, to-do, world timer, alarm and clock. But other than that, the phone has an awesome 3.5m headset jack that users will find helpful in listening to their favorite FM radio and audio/video player. A MicroSD memory card slot is available for users so storing those music files won’t be a problem at all.
This is not the typical sleek and sexy handset that makes the round in fashion circles. The Samsung B7620 Giorgio Armani is a violation of everything we hold dear in a fashion phone. It’s large, it’s heavy, it’s powerful and it’s brainy. Samsung and Armani enters its third collaborative effort to bring out what can be considered the world’s largest and most powerful fashion phone ever. Its target audience might be closer to the affluent and successful corporate tykes, but for sure, its price and heft won’t be embraced by the young hip crowd anytime soon.
Powerful Features
This is essentially the B7610 Omnia Pro dressed in a louder and bolder body color – GOLD or Bronze, depending on lighting conditions. Samsung made sure its new Armani smartphone is not only powerful inside, but has a commanding presence as well. Apart from a new outfit, the Samsung B7620 Giorgio Armani improves on the Omnia Pro with a tilting display when fully slid out for a more ergonomic typing on its tactile keyboard and more comfortably viewing of its 3.5” WVGA touchscreen display that uses the same AMOLED technology. There’s a more generous 8GB of internal memory and a 5-megapixel autofocus camera where the Omnia only has 1 Gb and 3 megapixel camera.
Corporate users will be familiar with its look and feel as the Windows Mobile 6.5 platform gives it desktop like multitasking features as well as application support to view MS Office files, full internet browsing form its latest Opera browser and push email features common in Blackberry handsets. Hardware-wise, it’s a quad band GSM and a tri band WCDMA on 3G with HSDPA for surfing download speeds of up to 7.2Mbps and HSUPA upload speeds of up to 5.76Mbps. WiFi 802.11 b/g is supported for surfing in hotspots anywhere in the country.
Availability
The Samsung B7620 Giorgio Armani should be released in the UK, Germany, Italy the Netherlands, Russia, China, and the UAE in time for holidays with the SIM-free street price of about €700 or equivalent. This effectively puts it above the reach of most people. That’s quite understandable as most people can’t afford an Armani suit.
The new keyboard toting GSM phone from Samsung may look a little out of place with its touch screen siblings, but it is the one that is most specialized. The obviously messaging based phone is a great alternative to the higher end BalckBerrys (such as the Curve or the Bold) and Palm Pixi; though people who want a little more function will want to take a pass on this device. But if all you need from the phone is messaging, a little media playback and a really cheap price (compared to other phones), then the Genio QWERTY would be a good fit for you.
Specs and Features
Genio QWERTY reviews will tell you that the keyboard is the main attraction of this mobile phone. The QWERTY keyboard is portrait oriented and is a good match for anyone who likes to do a lot of messaging. Though users with larger fingers may have a bit of trouble at first, getting used to the slightly flat layout is tough. Still, it does a decent job when you are pounding out long messages; just keep the pace at a considerable rate.
The device also sports a 2.2 inch TFTLCD that does a clean job at delivering clear images and a good font size when typing messages. The 2 mega pixel camera can shoot both images and videos but do not expect to be able to achieve high end photography with it.
Media functions such as music and video playback are also present in the Genio QWERTY.
Deals and Contracts
Interested buyers will find the Samsung Genio QWERTY on contract for free at various deals offered by Vodafone UK, T-Mobile and Orange Mobile UK For those who do not like having a monthly fee to pay, the device can also be obtained through pay as you go plans.
It’s Pink! Sure enough that is what many fathers around the UK will be hearing this holiday season. The Samsung B3310 is Samsung’s entry level phone aimed at young teenage girls in the UK. With a lot of flash and some pretty good technology this will further bolster Samsungs competitive stance in the UK’s teenage mobile space. Especially for those teens getting their first phones.
The most noticeable features are the new keyboard style present on both the face, and the slide out keyboard. The two separate keyboards integrate into a near desktop like feel with the numeric numbers directly above the slide out. This makes for some interesting texting possibilities. The outer keyboard mimics a standard numeric keypad unit. In case you’re not into the whole QWERTY thing either. Texting from the closed position anyone? Budget phone or not this is still a cool unit.
The features: All the normal features found on similar models are present on this unit. Bluetooth for hands free and data transfers, a 2.0 megapixel Camera with video capability. MP3 player, FM radio, and a microSD card slot for memory storage. Software features are included with this unit. You can connect to Facebook, MySpace, Flickr, and Photo bucket. In addition you can send/receive email and text messages very quickly. All because of this interesting keyboard setup. Here is the full Samsung B3310 details in case you’re wondering.
All of this in an entry level phone is a good deal considering some of the plans that are available, adding another line will be very popular in many UK households this holiday season. The mobile phone costs £50 from a variety of online sources on pay-as-you go plans. Remember this is a “budget” handset, aimed mostly at teenagers. It is not designed to compete with the more advance mobile phones.
After just a few months since Samsung released its first BlackBerry-style smartphone in Omnia Pro B7320, and the Korean mobile communication company which is known for its innovative designs is feeling the urge to tap the business class market segment a little deeper. Samsung has announced and confirmed the Omnia Pro B7330 to be released shortly. It is an improved version of the earlier released Omnia Pro B7330, but the fundamental design of a QWERTY keypad on the front remains the same, which was a part of the overall theme of the Omnia Pro B7320.
One of the most noticeable changes is in the screen of the phone, which increases in size from a 2.4 inch TFT in Pro B7320 to the 2.62” TFT in the B7330, with a slightly improved resolution of 320 x 320 pixels. The design of the Omnia Pro B7330 is also much improved than its predecessor, which looked totally out of the place in the Omnia series. Another significant improvement in the design is the fact that this Samsung smartphone has only gotten thinner and smaller, which makes it more convenient to carry, and it also has lost 3 grams in the transformation as well.
The new Omnia Pro B7330 will only add to the remarkable internet features offered by its predecessor phone. It will be offering the 3G network connectivity protocol of HSUPA, which was not available in the Omnia Pro B7320. The assisted GPS function also surfaces in Omnia Pro 7330. Understandably so, the phone comes pre-installed with the latest Windows Mobile 6.5. The FM Radio and 3.0 mega pixel camera, this time with auto focus, are maintained in the newer version, but these are secondary features of the phone really.
Omnia Pro B7330 is expected to release in late October this year when there will be many great options available for Samsung Omnia Pro B7330 contracts to choose from.
Samsung have always been the pioneer in mobile phones, having released a number of great phones over the years, from the Samsung D500 to the Samsung Omnia i8910 to the recently revealed Samsung Pixon 12MP.
In addition to the large number of high – end phones, Samsung haven’t disappointed in the lower – tier as well, bringing out the Samsung B3310, which combines a really quirky design with an affection for social networks in the form of shortcuts to Facebook and MySpace.
The quirky part of the phone is the alphanumeric keys, which are placed to the side of the screen. It may seem a bit odd at first, but you should get used to it in to time. The phone’s is mainly available in a bright pink, which is bound to appeal more to girls. The design of the phone actually resembles the Nokia Surge a lot.
The phone makes use of a 2 inch Thin Film Transistor screen which is capable of displaying upto 256k colours with a resolution of 240×320 pixels. A QWERTY keyboard is also present which can be revealed by sliding the phone sideways. The phone will be also available in the colours black and blue.
The phone has an internal memory of 40 MB, which can be expanded further to at least a maximum of 8 GB or 16 GB by using the microSD memory card slot.
The connectivity features include support for all GSM networks. Internet can be browsed on the phone via GPRS, EDGE or HSCSD connections. You can connect with other phones using Bluetooth and connect with your computer using the microUSB port.
The phone has a 2 megapixel camera which can shoot pictures with a maximum resolution of 1600×1200 pixels. The phone has an estimated talk time of 5 hours.
Just like all the other mobile phone manufacturers out there, Samsung are pretty keen to make sure that their fans keep wanting more. However, inspiring, serving and entertaining don’t seem to be enough for today’s market. Therefore, Samsung have decided to go the hard way and woo some new customers. The Samsung S3650 Genio is just that – tech-savvy and fresh, just like the target market. This entry level touchscreen phone seem to match the liking and the budget of the target audience of the market.
The phone is great for young people who like to have technology on their side as well as for those who are into social networks and for those who like to personalize and customize their phone according to their wishes. The price tag of 140 pounds suggests that there isn’t anything fancy about the phone but the wide variety of features is absolutely perfect for the target market.
Looking at the features, the phone is capable of running on all 2G networks. The Genio has a 2.8 inch capacitive touchscreen with a QVGA resolution. The internal memory of the phone is 90 MB, which can be expanded upto 8 GB via the microSD memory card slot. The phone has a 2 megapixel camera with fixed focus and smile detection. The FM radio has support for RDS as well. The phone makes use of the TouchWiz and Cartoon UI. Social networking has been integrated into the phone with the possibility to upload pics and videos to your profile directly. Bluetooth support is there. An office document viewer is also available. The proprietary smart unlock feature sis also available. The phone has interchangeable rear cover and comes with 2 extra back panels.
Well, yeah, kinda. Although we have to say we’re pretty much still in the physical keys boat if we’re honest. Give us some nice solid pieces of plastic (or metal, if we’re feeling flush) to press over a big flat screen any day.
We can text in the dark, navigate the menus in a club, and take pictures of ladies underwear under tabl – wait, scratch that last one. Point being, once you get to know a phone with physical keys, you don’t even need to look at the thing to use it. Can this ever be the case with touchscreens? Well, probably not, but phones like the Samsung Genio Touch are at least going to make an effort towards pretending that they know what you like by offering haptic feedback. Haptic feedback? We hear you shout. Yes, haptic feedback. Let us (i.e. Wikipedia) tell you what it’s all about. Well, it’s simple really: when you touch the touchscreen, the phone gives off a little touch-specific vibration, to give you something towards the sense of a physical, tactile response. Basically meaning that you know when the phone knows that you’re trying to do something, because it will give a little shake of appreciation.
Pretty cool, huh. And that’s what we like about the Samsung Genio Touch. It might not be the best phone out there – in fact, it’s very far from it, but it’s supposed to be, because it’s a budget phone – but it does have enough cool little features like that hapticness (don’t try and find that one on Wiki) to make it a very viable option for the budget minded out there. Have a little look at this Samsung Genio Touch review to get more a sense of what it’s got to offer. Or have a look at the official press release. Or, if you really have to, this video below.
