Acer’s first foray into the world of mobile phones, codenamed the Acer F1, has been turning heads with its super sleek looks and slim design since it was first revealed to the public back in February. Even more exciting though is the recently announced information about what’s going on inside. Powered by a 1ghz Snapdragon chipset, the F1 will be lighter and more powerful than almost all smartphones currently on the market. With a huge, high-resolution display screen, Snapdragon still allows the F1 to have reliable, energy efficient power. And all tucked into the slimmest of packages. This means you can run all the 3G, Bluetooth and video applications you want, safe in the knowledge your battery isn’t going to let you down after an hour or two.
The phone also has a huge 3.8 inch TFT touchscreen display with 480 x 800 pixels, HSDPA 7.2Mbps (that’s your mobile broadband, or 3.5G as some people are calling it, GPS, Wi-Fi connectivity, a 3.5mm headset jack to plug your favourite headphones in and a 5MP autofocus camera with LED flash.
There are some rumours all this trickery is going to come at a sizeable price, but we know better than to listen to scaremongers and are happy to wait for an official announcement. All being well we won’t have to wait very long at all.
There’s a more detailed Acer F1 review here. But enough with the words – just take a look at this video of an Acer F1 prototype in action if you want to see what it’s capable of.
