Asia Mobile AwardsThe winners of the Asia Mobile Awards and the Mobile Innovation Grand Pix- Asia Tournament have been announced by GSMA. These are awards that distinguish the best products and publicize new and upcoming companies offering innovative products.

Can you guess who the recipients of these awards are? Not sure. Nokia N97 mini was handed the Best Mobile Broadband Handset/Device. This phone has been recently reviewed and indeed had some commendable features.

Huawei and Grameenphone went home with The Green Mobile Award. This is definitely well deserved because they maximized the use of solar-powered base stations and operate solely off this grid which made use of a diesel engine as back up and ultimately reduced the overall cost of operating these base stations. It was disclosed also that the largest Telecommunication service provider in Bangladish i.e. Grameenphone will recoup its money in savings within the next three years.

Of course, Entertainment wasn’t ignored, as Game loft’s “Hero of Sparta” bagged the Best Mobile Game Award.

Music Mobile Award wasn’t left out. The Winner of this year’s Best Mobile Music Service Award will cause jealousy amongst users of similar services. The AMPed service powered by SingTel was the recipients of this award. It has some exciting features such as providing unlimited music download service, dishing out 100 free minutes for every $39 USD spent per month. It also gives 500MB free data service and unlimited access to music downloads. Not to forget the most interesting part which gives users permission to even share songs with “Songs to own and share”. You also get music videos and pre-album releases.

Another surprise is Bangalink Jigyasha from Orascom Telecom Bangladesh which is another new Bangladesh entrant also bagged the Best Mobile Enterprise Application Product or Service Award. Bangalink Jigyasha offers a wide range of service which include agricultural advice and other business advice.

Winners of this year’s awards will be shortlisted for Global Mobile Awards scheduled to hold at next year’s GSM World Congress in Barcelona.
