The Vodafone-exclusive 6730 Classic will be hitting the streets any day now and we have to say we’re a little impressed. Not a lot impressed, but enough a little to tell you a bit about it. Most notable at all is how light the thing is. At a couple of grams over 80g, this is just about the lightest 3G phone out there. If Nokia had their way, they’d say it’s the lightest smartphone out there, but we don’t think this is quite smart enough to be called a smartphone. Yes, it’s an S60 phone, yes, it has GPS, yes, it has 3G…. but for us, smartphone stands for something a little smarter than this little Nokia 6730 Classic offer.
Anyway, there’s more than enough to keep you happy as long as you’re not expecting an all-singing, all-dancing smartphone. The Ovi Maps function is really pretty neat, and with a free lifetime membership to their pedestrian navigator, you can access turn-by-turn instructions whether you’re walking in Manchester, Cairo, Sydney or New York. There’s an optional membership to the Ovi driving navigation too, but we think with a screen this small you’d not only find it hard to use, you’d probably seriously injure someone trying. Not a good plan.
The email functionality is also very neat, offering desktop-like access to your email accounts, allowing folder sorting, html interactivity and other neat stuff you don’t normally get on a phone this size.
Add to that a semi-decent camera, neat media playing functions and all that typical Nokia design-craft and the Nokia 6730 Classic might just be the phone for you. Check out a Nokia 6730 review here for even more details, or have a look at the video below
