The Samsung Blue Earth will be debuts at the Mobile World Congress 2009 in Barcelona next week; this is Samsung first ever solar powered mobile phone. We have seen other phone manufacturers share details about their up and coming “green” phones, however the Samsung Blue Earth looks like it could top the pile in the eco stakes.
Right, so what eco features can we see from this phone?
The mobile phone case will be made out of recycled bottles (similar to the Nokia Remade and Motorola W233 Renew)

  • Solar panel on the back of the phone that will recharge the phone if it is in direct sun light
  • Provided with an energy efficient charger
  • Hardware is not made out of any harmful substance to the environment, such as Brominated Flame Retardants and Phthalate and Beryllium
  • Unique interface that will provide the user with information on how many tree’s they have saved by making the effort of walking instead of driving somewhere.
  • “Eco Mode” that will adjust the backlight and screen brightness

We expect to see the Samsung Blue Earth in the second half on 2009. Unfortunately, we cannot provide you with any additional information about other functionality and functions, however from what we can see it looks like it could be a real contender.
We will have further details from MWC 2009 next week including Samsung Blue Earth reviews and videos.
