Sony Ericsson Xperia X10Sony Ericsson has been virtually dominating the mobile phone scene for the last few months. With the release of their illustrious Satio and Aino handsets and the announcement of a whole line of Xperia phones Sony Ericsson has been attracting a lot of attention. Despite some teething problems with the Satio and some harsh criticism levelled against the Xperia Pureness, Sony Ericsson probably still has the most hotly anticipated phone of the coming year: the Xperia X10.

There are only a couple of other phones that are attracting as much attention, such as the Nokia N900, and the X10 is most certainly the highlight of the new range of Xperia phones. So what is the big deal? The main point of interest for the Xperia X10 is its marriage of Google’s Android OS with a 1GHz Snapdragon processor that promises to make it the speediest Android phone on the market to date. Sure the Acer Liquid has attempted the same thing, but for some reason Acer has decided to underclock their flagship to a ‘measly’ 768MHz.

This is not the only point of interest; the Xperia X10 has a whopping 4″ TFT screen employing a very nice resolution of 480 x 854 which will see it being also one of the highest detailed renderings of the Google OS. Combine this with a top of the line 8 megapixel camera and gigabytes of storage and the phone just gets more and more appealing.

While making use of Android Sony Ericsson has also employed its own interface, Nexus, which will see the introduction of their Mediascape and Timescape services. These follow the trend of mobile phone manufacturers now attempting to streamline information from various sources into one interface, so that call history, messages and new feeds from social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace are all pooled Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 2together for a more intuitive method of interaction.

The only real criticism that can be levelled against the X10 is that its physical design is uninspiring. While this may be considered true by some it distracts from the monstrous power that is contained within, and I for one think the X10 happens to have a very sleek and elegant design that in no way degrades its undeniable awesomeness.
