Are users really getting the service they need?

This is one of the many questions that mobile network operator O2 UK want other networks to address when dealing with users and new subscribers. All too often, some users will find themselves signing up for a new service, tariff deal or plan that they think they need and after just a couple of months, realize that they really need something else, or in some cases, they cannot use the service at all.

There have been cases that a new user would come home only to find that the new network they switched to have a very bad reception in their house. It is also possible that the network has no coverage at all in the work place. There are plenty of situations similar to this and according to O2, network operators need to practice a clearer degree of transparency with their users.

Contracts are not just simple terms of agreements either. There are complex cancellation and switching plans. Rewards and incentives are not always available and most plans do not fully cover the things that a user might run into. From data bandwidth to roaming charges, there are plenty of things that can change just by changing one’s location.

O2 wants to set the new standard for their competitors.

The company already has a 15 day full refund policy. While this may already sound good, there is an even better part to the deal: this is a no questions asked policy. This means that if any new user finds their handset or service unsatisfactory, they may return to O2 and have the service cancelled. It is a pretty great system –but one that is not practiced by all. Since each mobile network has varying strengths and weaknesses, consumers have the right to be properly informed.

Vodafone is proud (for good reason) to announce that all text donation made through the network operator’s special numbers will be given to charities 100% -no texting or transaction charges will be deducted from the amount that is transferred. In what is considered to be one of the most generous and ingenious ways of promoting the spirit of reaching out to others, mobile network operator Vodafone seems to have just hit the sweet spot.

In today’s society, there are plenty of people who are willing to help aid many important charities and causes –if only financially. Time and energy are resources that people are not always willing to share, and often, even the simple act of handing out a check may take plenty of time and effort.

This is what makes text donations so successful and basically what makes any drive successful too. Mobile phones provide convenience: and instant and easy way to help out without having to take an hour away from work or other activities.

The medium is already successful as it is. After all, almost everyone in the UK owns a mobile phone and the process is as simple as texting a single message. The effort and energy needed is minimal, and the only time lost is a little under a couple of minutes at best. The greatest and most rewarding part of the whole act is that people still know they got to help out too.

Now, Vodafone is encouraging more people to start or keep donating through their channels. With a promise that all the proceeds would go to charity, many more people will be inclined to make donations (after all, having several donation transactions would originally rack up on a monthly bill).

Of course, the biggest beneficiaries are the charities, volunteer groups, causes and relief centers that would be receiving the donations.

Smart phones store plenty of information. With all the features and capabilities of the average smart phone, users can store thousands of important personal information –information that can be lost or even stolen if the device is not taken care of properly. And while it takes careful preparation, awareness and vigilance to keep a device safe from theft, the same cannot be said from other dangers such as software issues, viruses, and the occasional phone accident that often ends with a smart phone soaked in beer, soda or some other liquid.

This is why it is important for anyone with a smart phone (and uses it often) to consider coming up with a data backup plan and sticking to it. One might think that simply running the data sync function to a computer is already enough, but unless this is done regularly, the measure is pretty much pointless (much like restoring data that is several months old).

Having updated, regular backups gives anyone the confidence to wipe clean a mobile phone for repair or other similar uses. This cannot be afforded for anyone without backups –as the pangs of worry regarding data loss would prevent anyone from fully wiping clean a phone’s memory.

Software issues are also plenty. Many operating systems rely on patches and updates in order to bring new features and capabilities to smart phone users. Sadly, some of these patches could possibly wipe a phone’s memory clean with the installation of an all new operating system. While developers would add in a warning with the update installer, it would save everyone plenty of time and energy to have backups ready.

The last great reason to back up data is when you want to retire your mobile phone. Most stores offer great deals for trade-ins, even some network operators have similar deals. Of course, transferring data from one handset to another will be a whole lot easier if all your phone data is already backed up.
